AMP Season Round 2

The Atlanta Motorsports Park 2022 Series continued yesterday with Round 2. Starting off under dismal rain, we decided to skip practice and hope things dried up. By qualifying the track was mixed conditions. We decided to run rain tires. Qualified P4 but kept it on the asphalt. For the prefinal, we had a clean start and jumped to P2 at the bottom of turn 2. Stayed there until lap three when I saw the chance to pass and take P1. The DCT Kosmic ran perfect and I won the heat with a 4 second gap tp 2nd. As the day went on, the track dried up and the weather stayed in the 60s and cloudy. Perfect. Sat P1 on the grid for the Final. Was passed on the first lap but stayed in the draft and reclaimed the lead on lap 4. Held it and won the race with a 14 kart gap. We had the pace. Our DCT team mate Gabe Spencer #240 stayed in a hard battle for 2nd and drove amazingly.

Our second race here in KA Senior could not have gone better. The WRS engine pulled like a rocket on the Mercury RR. I simply cannot thank DCT for getting the kart so dialed in. Honestly, driving was pure pleasure. I had to be patient, but stayed in the zone and even had a few tastes of zen. I wish every race day could be just like this one.

This week we load up the trucks and head to GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, NC. We will go back to KA Junior here. GoPro is tough. Its a killer track with a STACKED field of talent behind the wheels. Hoping to carry our momentum with us and stay in the mix up there. We have had so much heartbreak up there but I am in the best shape yet to try again. Stay tuned for next weeks updates.

As always, tremendous gratitude for the village:

DCT Karting, Kosmic Karts, Atlanta Motorsports Park, Tony and Leo Oliviera, Wellington and WRS Engines, Platz Productions, Stilo, MG Tires, Sparco, and Alpinestars.
