GoPro Challenge Round 5

Headed back to Mooresville early with the DCT Karting crew to get a full day of practice and set up done for this race. GoPro has been tough on me. I wanted to avenge Round 4’s troubles and execute what the numbers say we can. Practice went great and our times showed we could be in it. But there’s so much more in the equation at this track. Large fields, high quality drivers, and that lovely turn 1 start make things unpredictable.

Practice had us P4. Solid. Quali sucked and had us chasing tail lights at P18. Ouch. Prefinal we climbed to P8 and had a 5/10th gap from the lead. Thats a hundred miles at this race. Kept the setup and hit the Final in a better starting position. Raced clean through the start and caught the draft. Traded places often with #20 Mason Cantrell but managed to put some space on by lap 11. The drive of the day here was #712 Olivier Piatek who started P13 after contact in the pre. Drove the wheels off of it and up to P2 for the podium. Nice work man.

We stayed within 1/10th of the lead on pace and finished P5. This is the best we’ve ever done here. The #41 Kosmic was prepped to perfection by DCT Karting. And I drove with something to prove. Overall, we are extremely happy with the race. The tweaks and constant learning put the hay in the barn. Back to Dawsonville, GA for the Atlanta Motorsports Park Series Round 4. Definitely not resting on any laurels. We had challenges at Round 3 and Im going in hungry.

Stay tuned….
