GoPro and AMP Updates
Since I last posted, there have been a few races. I have been up to Mooresville and raced the Karting Challenge Rounds 1-4 at GoPro Motorplex. Had good pace and was just outside of the top 10 for all. Position and avoiding contact are the keys up there. I wasn’t blessed with either but we fought hard and it’s always a well executed program.
The 2023 Kosmic Mercury RR was built and tested. After a little contact from another driver my brand new chassis was 2cm out of line. Thats a lot. We got it close but couldn’t be where we wanted to be at that point. I will keep facing the dragon here. No prisoners.
Atlanta Motorsports Park Summer Series Round 2 was this past weekend in Dawsonville. This event drew 130 drivers. One of the largest races in the country. I have had the Mercury RR straightened and motor set up. Miguel and Leo at DCT Karting built a rocket. Rain moved out and slicks it is. Qualified P3, Heat Race P2, Final P2. I have to give credit to Matteo Rubio Luengo for being a very talented driver. I got him on the start and held for two laps but ultimately had to chase his bumper to the checkered. It’s racing like this that brings big gains. Racecraft and high level competition are fuel for me. This series is going to be great. My DCT team mate Christian Blevins is turning fast laps and learning his skils quickly. A great colleague to have under the tent. And dont let me forget to thank D2 Motorsport for engines. Superb power plant. I was able to set a new PR easily and had the fastest lap in the class for the weekend.
Up next is Stars Night Fight National. This will be held at GoPro and I am switching things up a bit. Snoozed and KA100 Sr sold out. So I am jumping up to ROK Pro class for the race. This is a 125cc motor and we will swap it onto the Kosmic. Two days of testing this weekend and three days of racing the weekend after. Ahh, race season. Does it get any better than this? Well, maybe once school is out….
As always the biggest compliments to the village. DCT Karting, Tony Oliviera, Body Symmetry and Anthony Brumfeld, Steve and Zach Frank, Raiden Nicol, Porter Aiken, Trent, Lucas, and Eli at AMP. Good luck Cam! Bruce and Alyssa Vascou Christian, Carson, Gabriel, and countless others for the fun and friendship. Atlanta Motorsports Park, Kosmic Karts, Stilo Helmets, Vega Tires, MG Tires, HRX Motorsports. And above all else my Mom and Dad for the opportunities, support, and dedication to my craft. It’s simply not possible without them.
